SLIP METER
TYPE SM100

The Convex Design SM100 Slip Meter measures the slip frequency of an induction motor while the motor is in service. The slip meter is battery-powered and displays the slip frequency (in the range 0.1 to 2Hz) directly on a centre-zero moving coil meter. The number of swings (N) of the meter in a given time (T) are measured and the slip frequency is calculated from:
SLIP FREQUENCY F = N/T Hz.
A magnetic probe is used to detect the slip frequency and this is placed on the motor frame at a convenient location, typically at one end of the motor or on a bearing case. An internal timer set to 50 seconds allows the slip frequency of the motor to be measured in less than a minute with no disturbance to the motor.
The slip meter has been designed primarily for use with the Induction Motor Current Analyser (IMCA100) but may be used in any application where it is required to measure the slip frequency of an induction motor.
The slip meter is housed in a
hand-held plastic case and is supplied with carrying case,
magnetic probe, batteries and an instruction manual.
