METER IMPULSING INTERPOSING UNIT
Type MIIU42/48V

Meter Impulsing Interposing Units (MIIU) provide a barrier between the impulsing outputs of energy meters and the associated outstations, when the outstation is located remotely to the metering cubicle.

The MIIU42 has four interposing relays, each relay providing 4 normally-open output contacts for use with 48Vdc energisation supplies. Mercury-wetted relays are used to give a high life expectancy in excess of 1 x 109 operations.

Input circuits and each output circuit are isolated from earth and from each other to a level of 2KV rms at 50Hz.

The four inputs to the MIIU, from volt-free contacts of energy meters, and the volt-free output contacts are made via terminal blocks. The MIIU case incorporates integral mounting feet allowing the unit to be mounted on a VERTICAL 'G' or 'top hat' DIN rail.

Complies with Specification NGC-EM42 (1990).

Burden at 50% duty cycle:     0.9W per relay at 60Vdc (nominal 0.6W per relay)

Life:                                      At least 1 x 109 operations when switching above load.
Note:                                    A 27R current limiting resistor is connected in series with the
                                            relay output contacts.

energising relay:                     20mA minimum at 43Vdc
